The Clyde Group, one of the real success stories of the Glasgow and Scottish economy in recent times, was delighted to officially open its new premises Seaforth House at Hillington Park Glasgow on Wednesday 12th February, with the honours being carried out by the Scottish Government’s Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing MSP.

The Group provides total support services for the marine industry in all areas relating to the ‘people’ side of shipping, including the recruitment of shore-based personnel, training, travel management, medical services and uniforms, The Clyde Group is often better known for its established subsidiaries such as Clyde Marine Training, who manage the process of selecting and training 50% of the annual intake of UK Merchant Navy Officer Trainees, and Clyde Travel Management, officially recognised as one of Scotland and the UK’s leading business travel agents.

Other companies within the Group include Topstaff Employment, market leaders in the supply of staff for the commercial, transport and leisure industries, whilst Clyde Healthcare provides care at home on behalf of local authorities and in addition provides drug and alcohol testing services to both the marine and industrial sectors.

With its headquarters in Glasgow and locations across Scotland and England, the award winning Clyde Group believes moving to Hillington Park will aid its continued growth, and allow the business to expand its services even further.

Joyce Downie, Managing Director, The Clyde Group, said: “This move has been necessitated by the rapid growth of the Group and its associated companies since the management buy-out in 2008.  This relocation will provide not only for our present but our continued expansion.  Having now completed phase one of our growth strategy, we are soon to embark on phase two, details of which we look forward to announcing in the near future."

Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism Fergus Ewing said: "The Clyde Group and its associated companies have reported a year on year growth in turnover and profits since 2008 which I think we can agree is remarkable in these challenging economic times.  These types of figures and this magnificent new building are a shining example of what a Scottish company can achieve through hard work, diversification and the creation of brands that are instantly recognisable within their individual industry sectors.  I look forward to seeing continued success from the group’s ambitious growth plans."

The opening was also an opportunity for The Clyde Group to showcase its new premises to existing customers and suppliers, and also in attendance at the opening was Glasgow Warrior and Scotland rugby internationalist Sean Maitland as part of Clyde Travel Management’s relationship as Official Travel Partners of the Warriors.
